OCD treatment in Michigan, online
OCD can make you feel stuck in a loop you can't explain to anyone else. You don't have to explain it perfectly to start.
Reviewed by Hanna Newton, LMSW. By video for clients in Michigan.
Maybe it's a thought you can't shake, or a ritual you need to finish before you can move on. Maybe you know it doesn't quite make sense, and that makes it harder to talk about.
We work with children, teens and adults with OCD, all by video, so you can do this work from home anywhere in Michigan.
If you're reaching out for your child or teen, you don't have to work out the next step on your own. Alongside sessions for your child, we offer family therapy and a virtual Parent Behavior Management Training group, led by licensed therapists. Tell us what you're seeing at home, and we'll talk through what might fit your family.
How we approach it
Our OCD work uses exposure and response prevention (ERP), a form of cognitive behavioral therapy. Together you'll make a plan to face the thoughts and situations that set off the urge, a little at a time, while practicing not doing the compulsion.
You set the pace with your clinician. Nothing gets forced, and the steps start small. The goal is for the anxiety to lose its grip, so the rituals stop running your day.
What to expect
Email us with a little about who therapy is for and how to reach you. We'll learn what you're looking for and match you with a clinician who fits. Appointments are often available within the week.
Sessions are by video. ERP includes practice between sessions, so your clinician will plan each step with you and check how it went next time.
Online OCD therapy with us is for clients located in Michigan.
Questions
What is ERP?
Exposure and response prevention. You gradually face what triggers your obsessions while practicing not doing the compulsion, with your clinician planning each step with you.
Will I have to face my worst fear right away?
No. ERP starts with small steps you agree to, and builds from there at a pace you choose together.
Do you prescribe medication for OCD?
No, we don't prescribe medication. Our work is therapy. If you're also working with a doctor, therapy can go alongside that care.
Do you take insurance for OCD treatment?
Yes. We take 13 insurance plans: Blue Cross Blue Shield, Priority Health, Physicians Health Plan, Carelon Behavioral Health (formerly Beacon), Meridian, McLaren, UnitedHealthcare, Cigna/Evernorth, TRICARE, HAP, Aetna, Cofinity and ComPsych. Self-pay is also available, with a sliding scale if needed. We'll confirm your copayment before your initial evaluation.
