Anxiety shows up differently for everyone. For some it's racing thoughts at night. For others it's a tight chest before school or work, or a habit of avoiding the things that feel too big.

Whether it's you, your teenager or your child who's struggling, we'll start with what's going on right now and what you'd like to feel instead. Sessions are by video, so you can talk from home, wherever you are in Michigan.

We're one Michigan team that treats anxiety by video from childhood through adulthood, with CBT at the center of the work. So if your child, your teenager and you each want support, you can stay with one practice instead of picking a stranger from a long directory list each time.

How we approach it

Most of our anxiety work draws on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT): noticing the thoughts and patterns that keep anxiety going, then practicing new ways to respond. We pair that with practical coping skills you can use between sessions.

Some of our clinicians also look at what's underneath the worry, the feelings and old patterns that keep it running. Therapy isn't a quick fix, but small, steady changes can make a real difference at home, at school and at work.

When a child is anxious, parents often want tools of their own. Along with your child's sessions, we offer a virtual Parent Behavior Management Training group, led by licensed therapists, where you can learn ways to respond to your child's worry at home, alongside other parents.

What to expect

Send us an email with a little about who therapy is for and how to reach you. We'll take time to understand what you're looking for and match you with a clinician who fits. Appointments are often available within the week.

Sessions happen by video, from home or anywhere private. Your clinician will check in on what's helping and adjust as you go.

Three clinicians on our team treat anxiety. Kirsten Curtis, LLPC, works with children, teens and adults. David Copeland, LMSW, works with teens and adults, and supports parents too. Hanna Newton, our founder, works with children, adults, couples and families. We'll match you with one of them by age group and by what you're hoping for.

Questions

Do you see children for anxiety, or only adults?

Both. Our team works with children, teens and adults, and we'll match you with a clinician who works with your age group.

Can anxiety therapy work over video?

All of our sessions are by video. Many people find it easier to open up from their own space, and it means no drive. If video doesn't feel right for you, tell us and we'll talk it through.

Do you take insurance?

We take 13 insurance plans, and self-pay is available with a sliding scale if needed. We'll confirm your copayment with your insurer before your first session.

Are your anxiety therapists licensed?

Yes. Everyone on our anxiety team is licensed in Michigan. LMSW stands for Licensed Master Social Worker, and LLPC stands for Limited Licensed Professional Counselor. We're social workers and counselors, and our work is therapy: we don't prescribe medication.
