Maybe the same argument keeps coming back. Maybe you've drifted, or a big change has left you both feeling unsure. Whether you're dating, married or somewhere in between, counseling gives you room to slow down and really hear each other.

Sessions are by video, so you can meet from home, anywhere in Michigan, without coordinating a drive across town.

How we approach it

We're strengths-based: we start with what's working between you and build from there. Together we'll look at the patterns you fall into and practice new ways to talk, listen and repair after conflict.

Our couples work is led by clinicians who work with couples, including Karen Copeland, a licensed marriage and family therapist.

Hanna Newton, our founder, also works with couples here. Karen brings over 40 years in hospital and outpatient settings to her work with adults, couples and families, and Hanna brings more than 12 years with kids, adults, couples and families.

What to expect

Email us with a little about what's bringing you in and how to reach you. We'll match you with a clinician who works with couples. Appointments are often available within the week.

Sessions are by video. Your first sessions are about understanding both of you and what you each want from counseling.

With online couples counseling, the two of you join the same video session. Our sessions are for clients located in Michigan, so you'll each need to be in Michigan when you join.

Questions

Is couples counseling different from marriage counseling?

Not here. We use both names for the same work. You don't need to be married to come in together.

What if my partner isn't sure about counseling?

That's common. Feeling unsure is a fine place to start, and the first sessions are a chance for both of you to see how it feels.

Does insurance cover couples counseling?

It depends on your plan. Call the number on the back of your insurance card, and we'll also confirm your copayment with your insurer before the first session. Self-pay is available too.

If you are in danger right now, call 911. If you are in crisis, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or go to your nearest emergency room.
